Battle my heart
By Kaori Ito For Louis Gillard and Issue Park
Creation on September 22th 2022 at the CDN de Normandie-Rouen
Two solos. Danced, raw autobiographies, in silence, simply, battling with life.
One dances to tell of his arrival in Europe from South Korea and to tell how the fire of movement took possession of his body from his childhood. The other dances to tell how he learned dance with resistance and how he would have dreamed of learning it, but above all, he dances to survive, to find peace, and to find himself.
With great humor and intensity, both recount their search for balance and identity in their own choreographic language, between hip-hop, classical, contemporary or acrobatic dance.
Then, inspired by the codes of the battle, they size each other up and confront each other with complicity and provocation before inviting the audience to join them for a final communion. An invitation to let ourselves be overcome by dance, by the other and to get carried away together to affirm that we are very much alive!
We also offer workshops before the performance to prepare the audience to participate in the final battle.
