古くから伝わる能の演目『綾鼓』、そして三島由紀夫による『綾の鼓』を足がかりとして創られた作品。とある劇場で舞台を清掃する老人が、リハーサル中の女性ダンサーに魅せられます。

ダンスによって二人は年の差を超え、めくるめく愛のパレードを繰り広げる。

ピーター・ブルックの相棒でもある「彼」は、「目に見えない俳優」である。（中略）「恩寵」というものも目に見えないのだから。かたや「彼女」は炎であり、踊りそのものである。彼らの出会いは年齢と時を超えて輝いている。
